A Glossary of Logical Fallacies

Here is a great resource to keep in your pocket for any time, but especially now.  It is really useful to know how we tend to frame ideas and opinions relating to many aspects of our lives.  Check it out.

Over the years I have learned so much about the structures of language that organize our log.  As a student of Communications, I was excited to discover that we can explain the origins, purpose, use, and variations of speech.  What I was so relieved to hear named is that there is such a thing as intent that fuels the dissemination of information and knowledge.  

Of course that meant that I had to evaluate how my own habits for communicating were malformed, misguided or misused.   My great old liberal arts education proved to be pretty useful in learning how to be a promoter and practitioner of effective and inspiring communication arts.

There is a nugget of emotional truth at the heart of all the ways we communicate as we argue, though.   For me, I feel something is true when it resonates deeply if not emotionally, and it is not about me.

I had to begin with learning the difference between what I think and I feel.   It was then a new realm of learning and discovery opened up.   In the distance between thoughts and feelings, there is a roundabout in the middle of nowhere that we find Wise Mind.  

In the days ahead, as I communicate with strangers, neighbors, family and others, I will study this pocket guide so I can be humble and aware, clear and courageous.
